Former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton Reaches Plea Agreement
John Bolton, the former National Security Advisor, an outspoken critic of US President Donald Trump, has been found guilty on one count of unauthorized possession of classified material out of the 18 counts of mishandling classified defense information related to his book charged against him in 2020. He pleaded guilty to the storage of Top Secret journal entries in personal email accounts which were hacked and leaking sensitive material to his family members. According to his plea agreement, John Bolton could spend a maximum of five years behind bars, pay a fine of $2.25 million, perform 100 hours of community service, and undergo security debriefing, which is scheduled for October 28. According to his lawyer, Bolton wanted to take responsibility to safeguard national security from being compromised during the trial process.
